Kimpo was born on May 10, 1985 in Galas, Quezon City to Aklanon parents; he considers Kalibo his second home. He graduated with a BS Computer Science from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Aside from art and literature, his interests lie in history, geography, science, ekistics (urban planning), and information technology.

Kimpo’s consuming interest in history, especially military history, began when he came upon a book on Tamerlane’s conquests. He was so enthralled by the Mongol leader’s exploits that he didn’t stop until reading it completely in one whole day. He was six years old then.
